New video: Bachelorette (and more...)
Bachelorette is finally here!! For those of you that don't know what it is, it's the final in the lex/bruce/chloe/clark trilogy ("The Gotham Trilogy"), the first two videos being 'All is Full of Love' and 'There's Only Me'. It's best if you've seen those two videos first so that you know what's going on, but before you zoom off to download, read on...
There are two ways to download Bachelorette: you can either get it as part of 'The Gotham Trilogy' or download it as an individual file. As Bachelorette follows on directly from the previous two videos, it may be confusing if you're not familiar with the story so far... if you have the time and fast connection, I recommend you get the trilogy file... it's the way that I always meant for the vids to be watched, as the videos are designed to flow into each other. In summary, here's the new stuff for you:
1. The Gotham Trilogy - one epic video featuring a remastered All Is Full Of Love, There's Only Me, and Bachelorette. Available in medium and high quality (wmv and DivX respectively). Download this one if you can!! (you can get it via the page for Bachelorette and the other videos)
2. Bachelorette - the final chlex/chruce video is available to download on its own, again in medium and high quality versions
3. All Is Full of Love - has been remastered to give it the same colouring as the other videos and remove all the 'WB logos. You can also view this version in 'The Gotham Trilogy' file.
4. There's Only Me - now has a high quality version for download.
I really, really hope you like the new vid, as many of you know, it's taken me forever to do! Please leave me some feedback :-)
Also, I'm planning on doing a 'behind the scenes' feature on this one - I've already done some work on it, but if there's anything in particular you want to know more about, let me know and I'll see what I can do
First, I'm a 'featured site' at Sensue's 'Prophecy Ends' site!! To my knowledge, I've never been a featured site before and I have to admit, it's kinda nice
Second, 'All is Full of Love' is going to be shown at the 2007 VividCon in Chicago!!!! How exciting!!! VividCon is a conference for vidders showcasing work and holding tutorials, talks and such. My vid has been chosen for the 'Daughters of Experimental' section which shows vids that "stand out for unusual style or technique, that take risks and experiment with effects, storytelling techniques, music, etc". I'm SO grinning like a Cheshire cat!!!
Third, get ready for a HUGE update in the next few days... The final Lex/Chloe/Bruce vid is about to be released!!! It's called (drumroll please) 'Bachelorette'.
It has taken me much longer than expected to do all the encoding, but I'm just about there. I need a little time to upload everything and get all the pages coded, graphics done etc, but it will be up within a week!! I've also remastered 'All is Full of Love' to get rid of the logos and give it the same colouring as the other two vids (it looks a lot better!).
There will be HQ versions of all the vids, plus I've done a combined file with all three vids playing back-to-back which will be released under the title "The Gotham Trilogy". This is how they're meant to be viewed as it's actually one 15-minute long vid, so if you like the trilogy so far and have a fast connection, get that file!!! It's rather large though, and if my monthly bandwidth starts getting used up, I'll have to take it down, so it's first come first served!!
Great news! After a long period of waiting for new stock to arrive, my new hard drive is here! It's 500Gb of sweet vidding goodness and I'm so excited! I've moved most of my files over and have already started work again on the final chlex/chruce vid.
I'm missing clips for a few key scenes so I'm getting hold of eps 16-22 which I haven't seen yet and haven't been able to download until now. I plan on having a Smallville-fest this weekend and then I'll get straight to work on the vid. As soon as I have those clips I think everything will fall into place and it won't take me that long to do.
Thanks for being so patient - make sure you sign up to the mailing list and I'll let you know as soon as it's done
Hello guys... I'm really sorry that it's been so long!
The reason? Laptop trouble. To be precise, my internal and external hard drives are almost totally full thanks to my vidding efforts and penchant for downloading Smallville and Ugly Betty (and lots of other things!)... my laptop is so seriously slow that it won't even preview my 'work in progress' vids, and takes so long to do anything that it takes all the fun out of it.
I know, I know, the phrase 'buy another one' springs to mind... thing is that I want a really good one that will keep up with Premiere Pro and that will be much faster than the one I was using before. That means it costs quite a lot, but I weighed it up and thought that I'd rather have a short hiatus and then be more productive, then end up with another slow USB hard drive that can't cope with Premiere.
The chlex/chruce video WILL be finished - I've actually done quite a lot already but a lot of the fine tuning will be very demanding on processor power/free disk space (e.g. simulating snow and taking a swarm of bats to lex's mansion :-p ). I also need space to download more episodes to fill in a few key scenes that I'm not able to do just yet. Trust, me though, I've done way too much work on this one to abandon it.
So, what have I been doing with my time? Decorating my flat, playing guitar, taking ice skating lessons, perfecting my muffin recipe, playing badminton, re-reading all the Harry Potters ready for the 7th book and searching for new music to vid to when I'm back up and running... I have a killer piece of music for a chloe character vid, but won't start that until the chlex/chruce one is done.
Sorry for being away for so long, and thank you so much for sticking with me :-)
Happy new year! Well, my domain is safely registered for yet another year so I thought it would be nice to share a couple of my ideas and find out what you think about them!
Editing on the final chloe/lex/bruce vid (we should think of an easier abbreviation than that! chluce maybe?) is about halfway done. I found Only Me difficult as I'd used up many of the easier scene manips on the first vid, so trying to do a third video is even harder! I'm getting there though and it's looking promising... rough, but promising.
There will be more videos over the next year and I'd like to try some new things, not only different styles and SV pairings, but different fandoms. In particular I've had long-standing ideas for American Beauty, Batman Begins and Dr Who, and I'd also like to try a Torchwood vid too as well as one for my all-time favourite kids film Labyrinth. I'd definitely like to try and tick a few of those off my list in 2007!
I'm interested to know whether you guys would look at different fandoms, or do you mainly visit for the SV stuff? Would you watch, say, a chlark vid, or maybe character vids for clark and for chloe?
As for the site, although I still like this design it's probably ripe for a change, so it's on my to-do list to redesign it again. In the long term, I'd like to have use flash so that my vids can be streamed... that of course requires me to learn flash, but I bought a web design book packed with ideas and am at least hopeful
So, I think the overall theme for 2007 should be 'branching out'... what do you think? Besides 'more vids', what would you like to see here? Does anything about the site design annoy you? What do you like? What other SV pairings and non-SV fandoms are you into?
Firstly thanks for your awesome feedback on Crazy English Summers! It's so refreshing to break out into new fandoms after being with Smallville for so long, and your comments are so encouraging - thank you!
I've started work on the final Chloe/Bruce/Lex video - I've done the opening and the climax (it's the same impulse that makes me want to wear new shoes as soon as I buy them without waiting until I get home)... it just needs a little tidying, but that can wait until the rest of the video is in place.
I'm coming across the same problems that I had with Only Me: the music really dictates a certain visual style which is very demanding, and getting it right is proving really hard. Plus, manipulating the storyline I want to tell is harder than ever!! I'm trying to tell a very AU storyline that involves 4 characters, something that I've never done before (Only Me had 3, most other vids have 2: chloe and lex). I'm enjoying every frustrated minute of it, though, and will keep you updated. Any/all nagging helps move things along.
In other news... I broke my finger playing netball last week! Never broken a bone before in my life, so to do it while making my debut for my firm's new netball team was pretty frustrating! I'll be out for another few weeks, but at least I'm managing to type (and vid) again with it.
And in even bigger news... I bought a flat today! I'm so excited... I picked the keys up and just went round to sit on the floor for half an hour sorting through all the junk mail and taking it all in. Cleaning and painting starts in earnest tomorrow, and although I'll be without a net connection for a few weeks, I can still work on the video.
I hope you guys stick around long enough for me to get the chruce/chlex vid done (I'm dying to tell you the title, but don't want to spoil it for you!). My aim is to release it before the end of the year. The storyline is still quite fluid at the moment (I have a beginning and end sorted but the middle is still up for grabs) so, if you have any thoughts/suggestions of things you'd like to see, or of what you think will happen, then leave me a note and I'll see what I can do.
Hi guys, my host is moving servers so the site will be down Wednesday 1am to 10am GMT. I you have problems accessing the site during that time, give it a few hours and try again
I've finally managed to get around to doing the Harry Potter video that's been sitting in my head for at least a year... I know it's not my usual Smallville genre, but it's important to branch out and try new things: that goes for you SV vid watchers, too! I really hope you check it out - please let me know what you think... this vid is dedicated to everyone who has stuck with me through the vid-free months: your support means a lot and is the main thing that helped me to pull myself together and get vidding again.
You also have this vid to thank for upcoming vids... I've been trying to get the final Chloe/Lex/Bruce video off the ground but it's really hard to do long, highly manipped vids after such a long break. This Harry Potter vid is only slightly-AU and is quite short (2min 50) so it was the perfect way to dust off the cobwebs and get the vidding vibe going for bigger projects.
Speaking of which, the sequel to Only Me will be my next one... I need to buy Season 5 on DVD but I'm already plotting out what clips I need, and finally had a eureka moment last night on how I can bring the trilogy to a big, explosive ending... I can't wait to start it! I also want to do a vid for Dr Who and for Torchwood which has become a total obsession after only 3 episodes...
I've generally updated the site and tidied up, uploaded a few more awards for Ever After and Untouchable... I've also tweaked the comments script to try and stop those annoying spammers posting gobble-di-gook. This might stop some of you from using special characters, and any swearing will prevent your comment from appearing as opposed to just moderating it as it used to. I hope this doesn't get too annoying or stop you from commenting... if it does let me know!
I've finally got myself a MySpace site, and not wishing this to sound like a plea for more 'friends', well, I guess it kind of is!! It'd be great to see some of you over there
Hi guys, it feels like forever since I've updated (because it is!) so my sincere apologies! I'll hopefully be around a lot more over the next few months, and hope to get on and release another Smallville video soon, plus one for Dr Who. I hope to get them both done before the year is out.
For now, may I present a first... there's a new video section entitled 'Original Work' and as the title suggests, its for videos that I've shot myself. My boyfriend Tom is a sonwriter and we thought it would be fun to combine my editing with his music: 'A Clean House' is what resulted. We had such a great time filming it and hopefully you'll get a sense of that from the video.
The video is in two formats: DivX and wmv. If you can't get either of these or have a slow connection, you could also stream the video from Tom's MySpace site.
Evening peeps, I know it's been a while since I've updated, and I wish I was pulled out of the woodwork with happier tidings.
I've just found out that Neshita1818 aka Vanessa Montabone has stolen a ridiculous amount of my clips for her videos hosted at YouTube. As I'm becoming less and less tolerant of clip thieves, I thought I'd sign in to say that you can find her profile here: you know, just in case there's anyone out there who is similarly appalled by clip thieves and, I don't know, wants to vent or something.
I'm so mad!!!!!!! The first 1min 56 of "her" video 'you and me' consists entirely of clips from All is Full of Love, and then she proceeds to use 'I Bruise Easily' and clips from another vidder that I recognise. I don't think I need to say much more...
I'm still vidding, even though people like *her* make me think it's not worth it, I'm just taking some time out to concentrate on other hobbies that have been sorely neglected over the last few years.
Having said that I'm in the middle of making my first original video: a music video for my boyfriend's new song. We had a blast filming on Thursday and I'm still editing it all together, but should be done in a week or so. I don't know if he's going to be too shy to let me release it, but I'll try and talk him round and will keep you posted :-)
Yes that's right, I finally managed to upload the new video, and after many hours of frustrated coding, the new site layout is up too.
The new video is based on a fanfiction by Zannie. You don't need to have read the fic to watch the video though, and I'd be really interested to know your thoughts on it!
For those of you that haven't read it, it starts at the end of SV season 4, when Lex drags Chloe down to the cave in the middle of the meteor shower: Chloe loses her self-respect and her father is murdered in one foul swoop. For the next 10 years, Chloe grows bitter, working as a prostitute in LA. She knows that Lex was responsible for killing her father, so she finally embarks on a plan, using her body as a weapon to secure revenge, doing what the authorities cannot: take down the 'untouchable' Lex Luthor.
The story is of course very highly recommended to everyone... you can read it at Zannie's site. If you read it, please make sure you leave her some comments!
Hope you like the new site design: I've been brewing this one for a while, and it's the first time I've used Photoshop and ImageReady to do a design. 'Fight Conformity' is my unofficial motto lately: I always try to recycle the clips in a different way to create something entirely different. I think it's fitting to release this at the same time as Untouchable, which features some of the most demanding scene manipulation I've ever done.
I've also uploaded a DivX version of the video for you: I really hope you take the extra time to download this (slightly) larger file, as the image quality is much better than the wmv version. You can get the codec for free at the DivX official site.
With me in the middle of moving house, I hope you'll consider forgiving me for the lack of updates. Rest assured, the new video is all done - yup, finished, in the can, finito... I've also done the site redesign and have started re-coding. I have a couple of hours work ahead of me to get it working ok, and then we're good to go. The new design and video will both be out together.
As i'm in the middle of packing all my worldly possessions, and our broadband connection will temporarily be going the way of the dodo, it's hard to find time to devote to the update - please bear with me, I promise it'll be done within one week, two at the most.
To make up for it, the new video will be the start of High Quality DivX versions of all my vids: I'll explain DIvX later for those of you that aren't familiar with it. The screen size will be bigger, and they'll also be a similar quality to the downloaded episodes (which are all HD). This means you can see a lot more detail than with the normal wmv vids. They look like they'll be around 30Mb each, but I'll also do smaller wmv versions for those on dial-up, those without the DivX codec, and those who are just too darned impatient to download the large file.
I'll also gradually re-encode all my other videos in the high quality DivX format for you, and am currently working on a 'preview' system so that you can view snippets before you commit to a large download
If you want to know as soon as the new vid comes out, please join the mailing list!
Hello all... I know it probably seems like I've dropped off the face of the earth... sorry! Just thought I'd drop by and update you on what's going on
I'm working on a video at the moment which should be out in the next few weeks. I also have some fancy new software that I want to try out to redesign the site at the same time, so keep your eyes peeled for a biiiig update! I'll also do some more work on tutorials, including a look at how I created the 'credits' sequence on my newer videos.
After the current vid is finished, I've been persuaded to do another (final) video in the chloe/lex/bruce series. I've been thinking about it for a while, and having had some incredible feedback on the idea, and having found the perfect song, I think that the final in the 'triology' will be the next vid I do. I'll also remaster All is Full of Love, and release a combined file with all three videos playing back-to-back
In the mean time, please keep dropping by and saying hello... it's nice to hear from you all!
I'm still alive!!! Sorry about the lack of updates for the last month. I'm having a well-earned rest after working on videos solidly for about 4 months... Ever After really took it out of me, and I wanted to make sure that I took a step back instead of diving straight into the next video: I think it's hard to be original and to do new things if you don't have time to think about them; the last thing I want to do is repeat myself (or anyone else!). So I've been chilling out and indulging in real life... playing my guitar, doing arty stuff that doesn't involve a laptop (shock horror), speaking with humans (not that you guys aren't all lovely, of course), taking long walks by the river... *sigh*
The next video will be very, very different... dark, highly edited with lots of fast paced and highly charged sequences... I'm thinking 'Ever After x 10'. It will probably take me a while to source (a few weeks, tops) and then quite a while to edit. I'd say it will be done in under two months. I hope it will be worth the wait...
In the mean time, I'll try and do a tutorial or two... a few people have asked me how I created the 'tired-eye' credit sequence at the end of my newer videos: it would be a good opportunity to do a tutorial on some of the more advanced layer manipulation stuff that you can do in Premiere, so as soon as my feet touch the ground, I'll write it! If you guys have any other tutorials or anything that you want to see, please just drop me a mail or leave a comment here...
I'll also try and do a new design to be released with the new vid, as I'm sure you're getting sick of this one by now
It's a year since I bought the tired-eye domain, so to celebrate, I've released my new video: Ever After - it's a Lex Character study that has been a work-in-progress for far too long, so I decided to use the Christmas break to get it finished and released in time for tired-eye's birthday
I can't believe it's been a whole year! Although the video site didn't emerge until May last year, it's great to look back and see how the site has developed. This time last year, Teardrop was my latest video, and even though I was enthusiastic about vidding, I would never have dreamed of releasing another ten videos, not to mention all those that I created for the Smallville: v4.1 project. Despite that being a little crazy, it's the encouragement and feedback that has helped tired-eye grow, and that has pushed me to (try and) better myself with each video... so thanks, guys, this latest video is dedicated to everyone who has left feedback and words of encouragement over the last year.
Finally, there's a new mailing list!! I hope 2006 will bring many more vids (I have plenty more in my head!) so join the list and I'll let you know as soon as there's a new release. If enough people join, I might even release them early for subscribers...
I hope you enjoy the video, please leave some feedback!! Oh, and happy new year everyone!
I've been nominated in the 2005 people's choice awards at Silence and Tears. Sanguis Quid Ligurat is nominated in the Most Notable TV category, and All is Full of Love is nominated in the Most Notable Other category.
If you like these videos, please vote for me here!!
Merry Christmas everyone... the new video All I Want for Christmas is a light-hearted AU just for fun, lightening up on the angst to get you in the mood for Christmas! It centers around Chloe writing a letter to Santa, spelling out exactly what she wants for Christmas. Santa steers his sleigh over to Metropolis and decides it's time to make her wish come true...
Well, 'tis the season! There's a Christmas video all done and dusted, and it will be released on 23/24 December... It's total chlex and is a rather fluffy, angst-free and fun respite after a long run of angsty, heavy vids. I've made this for the naughty-seduction Advent Calendar which is a chlex-centric project with exclusive fanfiction and art being released daily throughout December.
While I'm online, I've just added a few more awards for Confession, Teardrop and Drifting Away. Thank you all so much for your comments on Confession: I'm totally blown away by the response to this video... and as soon as the Christmas cheer has run dry, I'll be back with the angsty vids in the New Year...
I'd really like your thoughts on this one as I've tried a few new tricks (don't worry, you don't have to comment on specifics if you don't want - even just drop me a note to say whether you liked it or not!). I'm also about to write a tutorial/behind-the-scenes piece on it, so I'd love to know if there's anything you'd like me to break down (e.g. a sequence or a particular effect).
I've got a few more awards to upload too but as it's getting late, I'll sneak those up tomorrow...
Enjoy the video... thanks for being (kind of) patient!
I felt like the site needed a little colour after the the rather minimalist version 7! Hope you like it. I'll try and iron out any bugs over the next few days, but if you see something that needs changing, just let me know.
There are also two new SV wallpapers in the gallery. As for the latest video, the first draft is done, I like most of it, but want to make a few changes over the next week or so before I unleash it on you! The bad news is that the delays are caused by me working on about three videos at once (unusual for me!) but the good news is that, when they arrive, you'll have lots to watch!
I've also updated the awards pages, and added a few for Teardrop, Sanguis Quid Ligurat and my first two for There's Only Me.
Take care, and pls keep your awesome comment coming... it's what helps me to get through the endless editing stage on new work!
I've updated the awards pages for All is Full of Love, Irrevocable and I Bruise Easily with the latest awards... I haven't submitted There's Only Me to any yet as it's just a case of finding the time at the moment!
There are two new 'behind the scenes' tutorials, one for Teardrop which is an old favourite of mine, and another for the latest video 'There's Only Me'... check them out for an insight into the effects used, abandoned story ideas, unused graphics and more...
I seem to have loads of vid ideas at the moment, and not enough time to do them all! I'm editing at the moment, having fallen in love with a Josh Groban song. It'll hopefully be a rather sexy, angry and passionate chlex video with some external footage in to make it a little bit different and to breathe some life into the old SV clips... keep an eye out over the next few weeks. Next after that is a secret project vid that, if I told you what it was, I'd have to kill you. After that, I'm hoping to do another fanfic trailer for Zannie and either at the same time as that, or shortly after, 'Epic' will go into production. Fingers crossed, then, you'll have another 4 vids before the end of the year...
I also wanted to say thanks to everyone who is reviewing my work: it really means a lot that you stop by and tell me what you think... it's folks like you that I vid for, and that keep me motivated through the countless hours of clip sourcing. Thank you!
Check out the cute pumpkins! I love halloween, and as it's now officially October, I thought I'd upload a halloween version of the layout. I'll change a few more things & add a few surprises as we get closer to the 31st...
I've uploaded five awards... 2 for I Bruise Easily and 2 for Irrevocable from magick 8 ball awards, and a Best AU award for Irrevocable from Butchered Awards. Thanks guys! I have a few nominations pending for Irrevocable, and as soon as those are out of the way, I'll start submitting There's Only Me...
I've also started a new video... a crazy random multi-MV-fandom one to Rhianna's Pon de Replay which is a light-hearted humour vid, designed to give me an exercise in timing and working with body movements. Watch this space!! I'm also plotting out my next SV vid... I have the music already, and a skeleton plot: it's the most complicated AU I've ever attempted, is going to be about 7 minutes long, will feature another comic crossover (but not Batman again) and has the working title 'Epic'. Stay tuned!!
I've finally got the gallery script working! You can check it out here. There are just two galleries at the moment, one for Smallville stuff, and another for Veronica Mars. I haven't brought over all my manips from LEXcite yet (not sure if I will or not), so all the images here are shiny and new.
Hi guys... it's been a while since the last update but I've been working hard behind the scenes, and have a number of videos in the pipeline.
Today's release is 'There's Only Me', which is a sequel to 'All is Full of Love'. It's a Smallville/Batman crossover, and looks at the Chloe/Bruce and Chloe/Lex relationships... enjoy!
Also, there's this news system which should make it easier for me to update you... feel free to leave comments/questions! I'm also planning a few more developments on tired-eye, in particular an art gallery where I can put all my wallpapers and manips. Watch this space!
Just a quick note here, on a rather less positive note than my usual updates.
From now on, tired-eye operates a zero tolerance policy on clip theft: that's when any of my work is imported into a movie editing program (such as Windows Movie Maker) and used to create new videos. This is a general no-no for all video editors, across every fandom, so there is nothing 'cruel and unusual' about enforcing this rule here. I spend weeks, sometimes months editing material which I have either painstakingly downloaded, or ripped from DVDs: every edit is meticulously choreographed to make the most of the clips, so it's not fair for someone else to use this editing, passing it off as their own.
If I find any vidder breaking this rule, and using pieces of my videos, their name will appear in the 'rule breakers' section on the menu. I can always spot my own work... there are other people who know my work well too, and can spot my editing when it's used by someone else. In addition, I always do a lot of 'unseen' work on clips, whether it's a subtle filter or a blue-screen effect that you don't notice, which make it easy to identify clip thieves.
In addition to publishing names, I will also inform admin staff of the forum that the video is advertised on, and will notify website hosts where appropriate.
I am serious about this rule, and apologise if this practice offends anyone.
