Comments: Ever since Lex described his sparring with Chloe as Verbal
Judo, the term has been synonymous with Chlex. Well, Tango is the new Judo.
I was immediately struck with this song as soon as I heard Josh Groban's album -
it's beautifully intense, and the Tango undercurrents give it a real sense of
drama.
This video follows the chlex relationship that exists on the show, and tells
the story of what lies just beneath the surface. I've used footage
from the Tango de Roxanne sequence from Moulin Rouge to add a little
fire/passion to the chlex clips, and the dance becomes a metaphor for the
Smallville storyline. Chloe turns her back on Lex, betrays him by aligning
herself with Clark. This in turn fires Lex's anger and dance becomes more
aggressive as a result. The 'confession' in this video (for me) relates to the power of
love - it can be intense, yet when wounded by betrayal, love can be the most
destructive force imaginable... and yet the intensity of it survives the anger
and hatred. It's a confession that 'despite everything, I still love you'.
There's also a big twist at the end that will hopefully make you re-evaluate
your perspective of the video :-)
This is one of the most complicated videos I've ever edited, and I'm the most
proud of it as a result. I'll do a full 'behind the scenes' look at this one as
I learned a lot from it, but for now, the idea behind the editing was to mimic
the Tango steps in the Smallville footage. The dance itself is full of anger,
lust, betrayal and hatred and I wanted to use the editing technique to import
these emotions into to the Chlex
relationship. My main goal was to knit the two sources together in such a way
that it looked smooth without having endless blends and fades: I've used a few
at select points in the video, but the majority of this is hard-cut to mimic the
defined, strong steps of the dance itself.

Oh...My...God...That was *the* best video I have ever seen in the history of fanvids. That was unbelievably creative and SO fitting. You struck gold once again, truly amazing work! I even got a bonus with the scene at the end, because I haven't seen that rather interesting exchange. I stopped watching after sv jumped the shark-ahem-season 4. But I'll always be a Chlex fan, and you feed my craving for the fandom with all of your videos. Especially this one!

First of all, I've always loved Josh Groban. He's one of my fave and hottest artist around, in my opinion. I got doubly excited when this particular got used to one of the Chlex's video. Awesome. What else can I say. I'm so glad someone had used this song. Not only, it's romantic but the dancing as well. It's a perfect combination. Excellent job. Thank you for making it.

Becky this was a brilliant video! :) When I read the description, I wasn't real sure how Moulin Rouge was going to combine with SV. It worked perfectly. I have never been a Chlex shipper, but I loved the video. The music was a perfect choice and the scenes were beautiful together. Awesome video. :)
