There's Only MeThe Gotham Trilogy: Part 2 Fandom: Smallville / Batman Pairing: Chruce, Chlex Music: There's Only Me by Rob Dougan Released: 11 September 2005 (High Quality version released 23 July 2007) Tools: Premiere Pro; PSP 8 Summary: Bruce Wayne's responsibilities put strain on his relationship with Chloe. Lex waits patiently for the cracks to form, knowing that when it comes to Chloe, "There's Only Me" (sequel to 'All is Full of Love', prequel to 'Bachelorette') Comments: When I made 'All is Full of Love', I envisioned a different ending to the one it has... Chloe was going to choose Lex, Bruce was to be heartbroken. After cutting the Chloe/Bruce sequences though, I realised that I wanted to explore Chruce much more: Lex's desire came too little, too late, and it was more in-character for her to stay in Gotham with Bruce, for Lex to be spurned. I had always wanted to make a sequel, to bring the story to the conclusion that I had originally planned. I spent months trying to find the right song, convincing myself that it couldn't be found... then I had the fortune to purchase Rob Dougan's incredible album, 'Furious Angels'... This song really grew on me. The vocals are a little strange at first, and may take a little faith on the listener's part, but by the chorus, you're hooked. It encompassed everything that I was looking for: grand enough, gritty enough to follow Bjork's All is Full of Love, a strong obsession theme, a male point of view, and one of the best climax sequences that I've heard for a long time... The emphasis for this vid is on Lex's point of view... it is his obsession that we see, his assumptions about the tension between Chloe and Bruce (even though he doesn't necessarily know that Bruce is Batman, unlike Chloe), and it is Lex's actions that bring things to a head. This vid is one of the hardest I've ever done. The scene manipulation was really hard to get right, and all of the relationships are more extreme, more developed than in the last video which made it much more demanding. At the end of this video, all the characters are where I want them to be, relationship wise, but hopefully you won't feel sorry for anyone, nor will you be particularly happy for any one person... there isn't a winner and a loser: they all have their faults, their blame, their pity, and it would be really interesting to know how you feel about them when you've watched it... so please comment! Download: There's Only Me is the second video in 'The Gotham Trilogy' and although it can be viewed on its own, it's better to download the trilogy file as it plays as one long, continuous video and tells Chloe's story in full.
