Creativity, as has been said, consists largely of rearranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know. Hence, to think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted. --- George Kneller

Teardrop
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Chlex; Chlex vs Lionel
Music: Teardrop by Massive Attack
Released: 20th July 2004
Technical: 13.0Mb (zipped); 428x240 widescreen
Tools: Premiere 6.0 LE; PSP 8;
Summary: A story of love, passion, and consequence. The story of a
teardrop...
Comments:
Of all my vids, this one will always have a special place in my heart, as it's
where I discovered many of the techniques that I've gone on to use in future
videos, the hard-cutting and fading techniques in this are pretty gutsy, but I
love how they turned out, and like to call them 'mine'... it's not perfect, but
even though I've improved on some of the elements in this video, I wouldn't
change a thing...
This was the second video I made in Adobe Premiere and I played with several
effects here... the problem with Premiere LE is that there are no built-in
effects, other than opacity/motion (seriously, WMM has more, you can't even do
grayscale clips!), so all the zooms had to be done manually with photoshop
layers to create the blurring... I also used track mattes in several scenes, in
particular the pan around Chloe as everything but her fades to black and
white... I also used them to zoom into the daily planet window, straight to her
desk.
I know you shouldn't create a video to a song just because you like it, but
this song is amazing and is one of Massive Attack's most famous tracks. It's gritty, intense and beautiful all at the same time... if forced to
choose my one favourite song, this would be it. The story grew out of the song,
how it made me feel, and the contrast between the beautiful lyrics and the dark,
intense backing: "love, love is a verb, love is a doing word, fearless on
my breath..." it's about how intense love can be, and about how every
action has a consequence that ultimately leads to a teardrop...
That was chilling, but the good kind of creepy. Even though I love this song I never thought of it for Chlex, but it worked out masterfully. I can't believe how good you are. I'm officially addicted to your work.

Another great vid. I do have to admit that the baby thing was kind of freaky, but fitting all the same. Nicely done.

I can't decide which I love more, Tear Drop, or Ever After. My best friend Anne, who isn't really into AU videos, thought it was beautifully done as well. You should listen to the Incubus cover of it, it's live so it's not as impressive, but the lead singer has a very cool, layered texture going on in his vocals. To get the song from both the male and female expression is both great. Can't wait to see what you are going to do next!

In this video, I loved the whole video and the music was particulary beautiful. My great sister of 18 saw it. She's not a big fan of Smallville but she likes the ChLex and she saw some scenes of this vid and she fall in love with the song lol.
